people with and without intellectual disabilities share life together in community.
L'Arche is a group of over 149
worldwide communities where
people with and without intellectual disabilities share life together in community.
Ready for a big challenge?
Our live-In assistants are a vital part of L’Arche communities, since they accompany core members in their activities of daily life and support them in sharing their gifts and abilities within the house and the larger community.
Such experiences can be hugely rewarding. But being a volunteer does require enthusiasm and perseverance. Usually our live-in assistants are attracted by community living and by a life where spirituality is central. Assistants soon discover the wisdom and unpretentiousness of people with intellectual disabilities.
In that context, L'Arche might be a challenging place to live; personal illusions and weaknesses are confronted and strengths are built upon. Are you up for the challenge?
